Spill Response Equipment

 While IOSA is first and foremost about its people, there are an array of equipment, vessels, and supplies throughout the San Juan Islands that are maintained by IOSA. Keeping these resources inventoried, fully operational, and regularly tested is a full time job, and vital for IOSA’s mission of helping to protect the islands.

Lopez Island

Spencer’s Landing Marina:

  • IOSA #22 Trailer: 800’ Boom & spill response equipment.

IMC Marine Parking Lot (Fisherman’s Bay):

  • IOSA #25 Trailer: 800’ Boom & spill response equipment.

  • Kinglet, 18 ft work skiff with 50 hp outboard motor on trailer

Mackaye Harbor Fire Station:

  • IOSA #8 Trailer: 700’ Boom & spill response equipment.

  • IOSA #9 Trailer: Spill response equipment only (as of July 2024, this trailer has been temporarily moved to Friday Harbor for maintenance).

Orcas Island

East Sound Fire Station:

  • IOSA #12 Trailer: Spill response equipment and sorbents

  • IOSA #15 Trailer: 1300’ Boom

West Sound Marina:

  • IOSA #16 Trailer: 800’ Boom & spill response equipment.

Deer Harbor Fire Station:

  • IOSA #17 Trailer: 800’ Boom & spill response equipment.

San Juan Island

Port of Friday Harbor Marina:

  • Green Heron: 23’ Beachmaster landing craft with 115 hp and 8.9 hp outboards.

Jensen’s Marina/Ship Yard Cove:

  • IOSA #24 Trailer: 800’ Boom & spill response equipment.

Airport H Lot Parking Area:

  • IOSA #1 Trailer: 1300’ Boom with misc sorbent supply for response.

  • IOSA #2 Trailer: Spill response equipment & sorbents

  • IOSA #3 Trailer: 1000’ Boom

  • IOSA #4 Trailer: Anchor sets, sorbent stockpile, & misc response equipment.

  • IOSA #13 Trailer: 1100’ Boom

  • IOSA #14 Trailer: 1100’ Boom

IOSA HQ (532 Shelter Rd):

  • IOSA #11 Open Trailer: Empty, ready for transport.

  • IOSA Diesel Towing Truck: Ready for transport

  • Auklet: 16 ft work skiff with 85 hp Suzuki outboard motor on trailer.

  • Command Center/Shop: PPE stockpiles, sorbent stockpiles, and other spill response equipment + command center/bunk room for large scale response.

Stuart Island

  • Enclosure for spill response equipment (2024 strategy plan for what to stockpile here is underway)
